In 2016, iStar collaborated with a world-renowned design team to include Anda Andrei of Anda Andrei Design, Paul Taylor of Stonehill Taylor, Dominic Kozerski of Bonetti Kozerski to create Asbury Park’s first new hotel of this size in half of a century. This project converted the former Salvation Army retirement home, an aging and neglected seven-story brick building that sat vacant in the waterfront since 2004, into a magnificent 110-room independent boutique hotel filled with amenities and spaces that would help bring the community together.

The Asbury quickly became a transformational destination and the hub of the waterfront. Its success helped bring unprecedented national attention to Asbury Park. In 2016, USA Today readers voted The Asbury as the Best New Hotel in the United States and has made national headlines in the likes of outlets such as Vogue, Bloomberg, and Condé Nast Traveler.
